What “Custom” Actually Means in a Spray Tan: The Glow Haven Method
Every spray tan studio on the Treasure Coast says “customized.” Scroll any menu from Jensen Beach to Stuart and you’ll see it. Customized for every skin type. Custom color. Tailored to you.
So why do so many of you still walk out orange, streaky, or grabbing on your knees by day 3?
Because “custom” is a word. The Method is a process. Here’s the difference.
What most studios mean by “custom”
One brand of solution. Three bottles: light, medium, dark. You pick a depth, they spray it. That’s a menu, not a match. Your undertone, your dryness level, your event, and the Florida humidity you’re walking out into…none of that changed the bottle.
What we mean by it
Every tan at The Glow Haven follows five steps. Same order. Every client. Every time. We named it so you know exactly what you’re paying for, and so you can hold us to it.
Step 1: Consult
Before anything sprays, we talk. Your skin tone and undertone (cool, warm, olive, neutral). How dry your skin runs right now. What you’re tanning for and when. How deep you actually want to go, not how dark the bottle goes. First-time client? This is where the nerves go away. Two minutes, zero judgment.
Step 2: Custom Color
We carry multiple professional solution brands, not one. We blend them. A violet-base for someone who pulls orange. A hydration-focused base for dry or mature skin. A clear formula for a bride in white. Nobody gets “medium.” You get the mix that was built for your skin that day.
Step 3: Climate-Smart Development
Florida is not a neutral environment. Heat, sweat, humidity, and a 95-degree car ride home all affect how color develops. We choose rinse timing and formula (original, rapid, or sweat-resistant) around your actual day, then set it with finishing powder so you don’t stick to your own leggings.
Step 4: Protected Fade
A good tan should fade pretty. That’s the whole test. Hydrated skin sheds evenly, so we prep for even shedding from the start: exfoliation guidance before, hydration-focused application during, oil after. Day 8 should look like day 2. Patchy knees are not a you problem. They’re a prep-and-product problem, and we solve it before you’re on the table.
Step 5: Event-Safe Finish
Mini contour included. No transfer onto the dress. Photo-ready under a flash, not just in the mirror. If you have a wedding, a photoshoot, or a trip, the finish is planned backward from that date.
Why we named it
Because our clients were already describing it. Read our Google reviews and you’ll see it in their words: “nailed my undertone,” “didn’t feel too dark,” “lasted ten days and faded barely noticeable,” “so comfortable for my first time.” They were describing a method without a name. Now it has one.
And because nobody local has one. Plenty of studios claim custom. We’ll show you the five steps and let you compare.
Who this is for
Anyone who’s been told spray tans “don’t work on them.” Mature or dry skin. Brides. Women who got burned by a booth. First-timers who are nervous. Spray tans are for every body…when they’re done right.
